This is my third motorcycle, my second Yamaha, and my first liter bike. I love this bike. I'm happy I started with a 600 before jumping to this beast; it gave me a lot more respect for what this bike can do. I debated a Gixxer1000, but went with the R1, it just plain looked better. I definitely made the right choice. This bike handles well, looks great, and has the strongest engine I've ever felt. I'm definitely a Yamaha owner for life.
Upgrades/Accessories: Greg's flushmount front turn signals. Removed the rear turn signals and added an integrated brake/turn signal. Fender eliminator. Painted the lower fairing, the heat shields, the rear hugger and the chain guard red to match the bike. Replaced the clear windsheild with a red one. Replaced the brake fluid tops with red ones and added a seat cowl. My next steps are to powder coat the rearsets and passenger foot pegs black, and to powder coat the wheels red. I've only done cosmetic upgrades, I'm not interested in any more power right now......
